It's been years now, almost an entire lifetime ago, but she remembers like it was yesterday. He saw her tears; he put them there, but what he didn't see was her strength. She tried to tell him, once, twice, probably a million times and all he said was "I don't want to hear it". She gave up, resigned herself to her fate, or so he thought. That was until the day she dug deep, found the strength behind the tears, packed her bag and walked away. Her final words to him, under her breath were. "you will hear me," and she was right. He's heard all about her, the college degrees she received, the great things she's done, the happiness she now has.....yes, he's heard.
