A Life in Paint
Crows. They're something special. They helped me many, many times. I have crow work around the globe. They have lessons to teach and they remind us to keep going, to be strong and courageous, resourceful, crafty and sly, smart, and decisive. They're pretty amazing.
Crows and their mystique go way back. For instance, the native Americans embraced them in their culture as symbols of powers from the spirit world that makes its way into our reality through the crow. There is something...different about them.
When I started painting them, there was a light bulb moment for me. I was looking out a very odd, very old window, in a very old place, and I noticed some crows outside on a telephone wire. I was standing at a canvas at that moment, so I let the paint rip. The crow art was immediately embraced and the rest is history.
Whatever you may think of the black creatures, one thing's for sure, they're a big part of our reality and are probably here to stay.
In this painting, I wanted to capture their mystery and mysticism, the light and dark, beauty, and a little of the macabre they're also associated with.
May the crows be with you... ;) X
