Life in Paint

inside the artist's studio

It's the weekend, so I thought I might take it easy and just give you an unprecedented behind the scenes look at where the magic happens, my studio.  I really love it, I have my little love seat, all my stuff and  huge windows with tons of natural light.  Pictured here, is my easel with a couple of sketches, perhaps coming attractions ... keep your eyes open.

Under the easel is Baby.  Yes, he's still called Baby.  When we discovered he was a boy, we tried a more "dude - like" name for him; there was Leo, Tank and Damien (as a result of his devilish personality), but nothing stuck except Baby.  So Baby it is, and as you know, no one puts Baby in the corner, well, except Baby himself, who loves the corner and my easel.

This is where you'll find Baby most days, smack in the middle of whatever's going on.  Since I spend a lot of time in the studio, he likes to be where I'm at, and as you see, he normally falls asleep.  I think now that the weather's cooler he also enjoys the sunbeams from the window.  In any event, he's my constant companion in the studio, so much so you'll often see him with various coloured fur where he's walked under my brush as it's dripped.  He's had blue and yellow so far.  But don't worry, it comes right out with water and a brush.

When I'm not painting, I often sit and listen to music and sketch.  Here's a close up of the 2 sketches I showed above that I taped to my easel:

I did have a pic of Misty working on the love seat in the sun, but she won't let me post it.  Something about her having just woken up and wearing sleepwear and not having had her coffee.... I dunno, I thought she looked cute, but I'm no dummy, I know better than to make her mad; happy wife, happy life they say.  Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the mini tour, and remember, keep your eyes peeled for these images in future pieces.
