behind the scenes:  an unprecedented peek inside the artist's sketchbook

You may wonder what I do when I'm not painting.  Well, when I'm not painting, or eating, or having a coffee, I'm likely thinking about painting and sketching things that come to my mind that may, possibly, become paintings.  No one ever sees these sketches, and many of them never become paintings, destined to rest as doodles in my book.  Others will become paintings, sometimes with very little variation, and other times with a great deal of variation.  As you can probably imagine, I sketch a lot.  I always have, from the time I was a little kid.

As I said, no one ever sees these doodles, that is until today.  Today, I've decided to give you an unprecedented, never before seen, peek inside my sketchbook.  It's part of the VIP tour backstage of my process.  The two I'm showing you haven't become paintings yet, but they've made it out of the book and onto my studio wall, meaning they have a better than average shot at finding their place in paint.

They're both figures, women, to be exact.  I tend to sketch a lot of figures.  In fact, I'd estimate that probably 70-80% of the sketches I do are of figures.

Now that you've have a peek, keep your eyes open in the coming weeks to see if they show up on one of my canvases.
