November 1 already; I guess time really does fly when you're having fun. The weather here has been grey and dreary for what seems like weeks, so it was time for me to brighten things up a bit and have some fun. This is my latest piece, Graffiti Murder; I finished it last night and I'm really diggin' it.
For those of you that follow my work, you know that crows will often show up on the canvas. They're such fascinating creatures, so resilient, so hearty. And in art, I love the contrast they provide, a relatively simple figure, starkly black, set against a colourful background, they really "pop". Here, the background is meant to be fun, happy, joyful, like a pile of brightly coloured fireworks gong off all at once. I love how the complexity of the background paired with the simplicity of 4 crows on a single wire. When you think about it, it's really a metaphor for life, so very simple, but so mindboggling complex at the same time.
